Finding An Effective Rosacea Treatment

in Medication

Rosacea is a kind of skin condition that is characterized by redness, flakiness and ruddiness that lead to the appearance of broken capillaries below the skin surface. Sometimes, there are bumps and pustules like acne. The exact causes of the condition are not clearly known. People who have fair skin get the condition and it runs in families. When something causes the blood vessels to expand the symptoms flare up. Some of the triggers include sun, exercise, hot weather, exposure to wind, spicy foods, stress, hot baths and alcohol. An effective rosacea treatment has to be used to get rid of the condition.

There are different symptoms of the disorder. Common symptoms are a flushed face with pimples or bumps on the cheeks, mouth, nose and forehead where the redness can last for a few days. Sometimes you can see tiny red veins in the affected areas that look like spider webs. The patient may feel a burning sensation, especially when any medications are applied on the affected areas. The face may be very dry, sunburned and sensitive too.

The eyes are also affected in certain cases. They may be red, dry and have an irritated feel. The eyelids can be swollen and red. The vision may be blurry also. If rosacea is not treated in time then it can seriously affect the vision and cause other eye problems. Though there is no permanent cure, doctors prescribe various medications for treating the symptoms.

The rosacea treatment can be used for controlling the symptoms and preventing the disease from getting worse. Pills and antibiotic creams are used for treating the pimples and redness. The eye problems are cured using antibiotic pills. Pregnant women should refrain from using such medications. If these medications are not effective you will be given stronger medications. Some of the commonly used medications include isotretinoin or tretinoin cream. For people suffering from advanced rosacea, surgery and other treatments like cryosurgery, dermabrasion or laser surgery are recommended.

There are different kinds of natural treatments for the disorder as well. One of the best natural treatments is the use of creams containing natural products or extracts. Niacinamide cream is one of them. It is a form of vitamin B3 and is used for topical application. Other natural remedies include the use of licorice, digestive enzymes, B vitamins and azelaic cream.

Certain food intolerances are also responsible for causing the condition. So make some changes in the eating habits and get rid of allergy causing items to control the symptoms naturally. Apple cider vinegar is also an effective rosacea treatment. Other natural remedies include the use of aloe vera, burdock, chamomile, betaine hydrochloride, red clover, rose hips, selenium and zinc.
